The Town of Claremont sought to create a high quality, pedestrian orientated public space on this busy intersection in, what is arguably Perth’s most prestigious shopping precinct. The artwork has been commissioned to accommodate the needs of pedestrians; retail outlets and vehicles. It is designed as the archetypal village wishing- well, where people will meet, gather their thoughts and sit for a while.
Lowry’s concept, Ohhh La La is a playful reference to the luxury of the high end shopping options available in Claremont and incorporates a nod to the heritage of the haberdashery which was once nearby. The work incorporates multiple seating options and subtle light through the perforations in the metal pattern that will make it visible at night.
