A quick glance at a map of Australia is enough to see the vast area covered by the state of Western Australia. Accessing this beautiful land can be a daunting prospect for international artists – so the WA Residency Network aims to make it a little easier!

The network can connect artists to a number of residencies throughout regional Western Australia, giving artists the chance to enrich their own art practice while sharing it with a new community.

An ability and desire to interact with the local community is important, however, other outcomes for the residencies are kept to a minimum. Each residency has its own parameters and application processes. Contact each residency program directly for more information.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • Applications are open to professional practising visual artists around the world.
  • Selection is based on artistic merit and potential for development.
  • The application needs to show evidence of a good match between the artist and host.
  • Connecting and socialising with the local community is required – through workshops, artist talks, exhibitions, or other artistic interactions.
