Our partner, Residency Unlimited, provides customised residency experiences for artists in all disciplines and at all stages of practice. Substantial emphasis is placed on building international networks within and outside the art world and between artists, curators, collaborators and visitors to the Brooklyn headquarters of RU.

Participants receive critical, production and administrative assistance as part of the residency, including assistance with finding accommodation in Brooklyn, and ‘pre-residency’ advice on opportunities to network, collaborate and learn.

  • Duration of residency: six weeks
  • Funding provided: A$12,600 (artist fee + travel, shared studio and separate shared accommodation)
  • Residency dates: August to September 2019

Eligibility + requirements

  • Applicants must be Australian citizens or have Australian permanent resident status.
  • Applicants must be Western Australian residents and have resided in Western Australia for at least 24 consecutive months prior to the application.
  • Applicants must be professional practising visual artists and recognised as such by their peers.
  • Students are ineligible to apply.
  • The recipient of this residency will be a representative of the State of Western Australia.

We were pleased to announce Andrew Nicholls as the 2017 Global City New York Residency recipient. He used the six-week residency to explore the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art from August to September 2017.
