Fiona Harman took on the three month residency at Artspace, starting in October 2018. With a practice that explores the evocative potential of the urban landscape through real and imagined representations of atmosphere, water and architecture, Fiona focussed on the landscape particularities of Sydney, with attention on the inner-city suburban areas around Woolloomooloo.

Clare Peake discovered how much her practice is influenced by her studio environment once her material investigations picked up momentum and her initial works morphed into a blanket made up of test pieces and parts of other works. Her twelve-week artist residency in Sydney has been documented on Instagram - @clareapeake.
About her time at Artspace, Clare says, "The residency was a stimulating and challenging experience, full of the type of crazy reflection that comes along with taking a step out of your everyday life. I will be processing this experience for a long time for sure, but one of most rewarding aspects to come out of the three months spent at Artspace was the feeling of confidence and clarity gained in regard to my practice. I am returning home with even more determination and energy to bring to my work."
