Residencies: bASEL, SWITZERLAND (FUNDED)

Artsource manages a six-month residency and exchange to Basel, Switzerland each year. The program gives a WA artist the opportunity to undertake research and creative development in Switzerland. In return, Artsource hosts a Swiss artist for six months each year in our Fremantle residential studio. This residential exchange is supported by the Department of Culture and the Arts and the Christoph Merian Foundation of Basel, Switzerland.

Residency includes: Accommodation and use of a studio

Grant included: $26,000 (via the Department of Culture and the Arts)

Period of Residency: 6 months, July to December annually

Applications advertised: March annually

Applications close: 30 June annually

Applicantd advised: August annually

Application process:

Applications are assessed by a panel of artists and art industry professionals. There are no specific outcomes or objectives demanded of the artist during this residency. Artists set their own objectives and goals and outline them in the application form. The panel will be looking for objectives that cannot be achieved from the artist’s home base.

Eligibility and selection criteria are as follows:

• Applications are open to professional practicing visual artists who are WA residents
• Selection is based on artistic excellence and potential for development
• Applicants must be members of Artsource
