The three councils of Mosman Park, Cottesloe and Peppermint Grove have recently partnered in a new library, community centre and local government office building located in the heart of Peppermint Grove. Known as The Grove, this exciting and inviting space is architecturally designed and was recognised as the first 6 star energy rated public building in Western Australia.
Consistent with the innovative and sustainable architecture, the Shire of Peppermint Grove has sought to complement the ethos of the building through its artwork. Through its ArtLease programme, Artsource contacted a number of Western Australian artists and proposed a series of works to be leased over a two year period. Artsource worked from the floor plan and design brief to suggest a series of works suitable for each space. The Grove’s CEO and staff selected the works which were installed in December, 2010.
